Not Sure I Trust It...

The book is full of spelling and grammar errors (like "Cammomile" and "Banans" as ingredients) and sometimes difficult to follow (clearly not written by a native English speaker). I think there were probably a few good recipes in the book, but I don't trust many of them. A lot use ingredients like vodka, alum and hydrogen peroxide.

NATURAL SKIN SECRETS are definitely organic and common

I gave this booklet only two stars because there wasn't' t any sort of description about what any or each of the ingredients functioned as in the mask, j.e., cleanser, so other, etc. Also, the directions weren't specific enough I.e., what form is the the yeast supposed to be in? Is oatmeal cooked or uncooked, powdered or not? Things of this nature.

These oversights are unfortunate, because it could have been quite a useful book.

I was really excited to receive this book. Great information on natural ingredients and recipes. Unfortunately where I live, some ingredients are hard to get, but for someone living in the States they are very easily obtainable. I have used a few ingredients/recipes and have seen improvements already.

This was my first time reading Tricia Owens work and while I wasn’t blown away in this particular story. I was looking forward to the premise of this story. A strong male paired with a submissive and another dominant. I love the push/pull this dichotomy can bring to a story. I will admit that I usually see this after the characters have a chance to work out the kinks, and in Master of No One the relationship is new all around. It appeared that at times Ms. Owenswas unclear in her focus of her characters and that translated into the story. Take Aleksander for instance, he was unsure and struggled with his needs and at times I wasn’t quite sure what he wanted. Was he a dominant? Was he a submissive? Was he a switch? He didn’t know and we never really got into his head as he figured it out so I ended the story still unsure. And Kirk was equally confusing. It appeared that he was just a naturally commanding figure. He was a protector and an honorable man. But human, so how was he able to dominate Aleksander? Was it really a relationship built on a dominating/submissive dynamic? At times I wondered because Aleksander and Kirk have no prior relationship so no built in trust. The only character that was easy to understand was Constance. Her need to serve was obvious from the get go. She derived pleasure from serving but that didn’t make her a pushover. She understood her needs and was trying her hardest to fulfill them, first with Aleksander and then with Kirk. I loved that she cut right through the fat and was able to articulate her understanding of Aleksander and her perception of his needs. I loved that Kirk added to the layer of our understanding of Aleksander even if it confused the issues, at least in my mind. I still think that Ms. Owens started something that could be wonderful. I will note that it appears to be a more of a happily for now instead of a happily ever after, so be warned. Overall, I liked what this story can be even as the characters confused me. I would love to see more of her work in the future. Ms. Owens penned a story that was different and I think the world she is building shows great promise. I will give her another shot if for no other reason than I have to know where she was taking us.

I love the dominance play between Alek and Kirk

I don't usually read erotic romance, but a friend talked me into reading her copy of Master of No One. I am a convert. I love the dominance play between Alek and Kirk. The way Kirk manages to ground Alek is absurdly sexy. I also thought Constance was a lot of fun and a great vehicle for eroticism. I am sure I will glut myself on Tricia Owens the way I did on Patricia Briggs when I first discovered the Mercy series. I need more!!

Master of No One was a very intriguing book that kept me engrossed from start to finish.

Master of No One by Tricia Owens is the first book in her new series. This also marks my first book by this author as well. Upon reading the synopsis and becoming highly intrigued, I decided to give this one a go. When reading an unfamiliar author you are never quite sure whether you will end up pleasantly surprised or if you will be transported into the land of the abysmally awful. I am happy to report that I quite enjoyed this book and the unique world that this author has created.

Ms. Owens sets up her world around chimeras, mythological creatures who have been living amongst humans. The same humans who are oblivious to their existence and are completely unaware that they share their world with these beings who have established their own society and live according to their own laws. Each chimera has a role to fulfill within their structured society. Aleksander Sopov is a chimera poisoner. His job is to concoct the poisons that the assassin chimeras use to kill the chimeras who are no longer able to control their own instincts and maintain their human disguises. Aleksander learned his skill from his mother who was also a poisoner, a job that is not easy and eventually takes its toll. With every life that is taken, Aleksander feels himself slipping and losing more of himself along the way. What Aleksander requires is a grounder, a human who serves as an outlet for chimera expression. The role of the grounder is to submit to the chimera and siphon off the built up aggression. The act of submission brings with it relief. Aleksander is an anti-social recluse who is slowly giving into the madness that may one day cause him to slip.

Aleksander is sent two grounders. Candace Cooper is a submissive to her very core. She has been residing in Aleksander’s home for quite some time now only to find herself being completely ignored by the chimera. She wants to serve and fulfill her duty; however, the quick-tempered chimera who she calls master barely knows she exists. Kirk Sullivan is a different story. He’s a big burly NYPD officer who also happens to be a dominant. He has agreed to become a grounder for Aleksander to protect his younger brother, Leo, who reneged on his promise with the chimeras and now is nowhere to be found. In an effort to spare his brother’s life, Kirk must serve as a grounder for four months. Both Candace and Kirk are there to fulfill their roles and both have different reasons for coming to the home of the unwelcoming chimera.

This author has written an erotic tale where two dominant males and one submissive female learn exactly what they need from one another and has interwoven it with a suspense-filled overall story arc. As Aleksander shares his home with the two humans and as they begin a relationship that is very much a triad of push and pull, the threesome begin to understand that they must rely on one another as not all is what it seems. With danger lurking and their futures at risk, can Aleksander and his humans withstand what is to come against them?

All in all, Master of No One was a very intriguing book that kept me engrossed from start to finish. The tale has not ended and will continue with a second book. If you are a fan of paranormal reads with a little kink thrown in for fun, this may be a book that you enjoy.

Much room for improvement

Mixed feeling on this book. Some chapters are wonderfully written and quite insightful. Other ones get lost on technicalities and fail to produce any interesting point. Overall it is unsure whether it treats the subject (brand mascots) comercially or as an academic paper. I confess I had higher expectations.

In How to Make a Living Trading Foreign Exchange, Courtney D. Smith provides a concrete and comprehensive approach to becoming a profitable forex trader.

Paid for itself on the 1st trade

If you are looking to investment in the Forex market then this is a good starting point.

WHAT THIS BOOK IS:
1) A complete set of trading strategies with entry and exit points laid out clearly. Although you have to pay some attention to what is being said because there are a couple of 'mis-statements' that won't make sense until you realize they are editting errors and/or typos.

2) A long-term way of investing your money in a reasonably conservative fashion.

3) A good way of earning 5+% return per month on your capital.

WHAT THIS BOOK IS NOT:
1) A day trader's bible. All strategies are based on daily and weekly price movements.

2) A get rich quick scheme. Face the facts, making 5+% per month is pretty darn good. Anyone who promises more is full of what we hauled out of the calf pens when I was growing up.

Yes, all the strategies are probably available for free 'somewhere' on the internet. But for a couple of bucks you get it all in one spot.

I have 1+ years experience trading Forex and in the months of September and October 2010 I made 5+% per month using only the strategies in this book.

Ideas Worth Testing

What the author shares are ideas worth testing. For example, while the inside lemonade trade works well on some markets, it doesn't work at all on others. This is typical of any strategy, and my point is you need to back test these ideas. To further my point, Inside Days works on some currency pairs, and Inside Lemonade works on some currency pairs ... not necessarily the same currency pairs. Inside Days might work on one pair, but the lemonade trade doesn't work on the same pair. You should program each trade individually and give each trade a test on each pair to find what works and where it works.

Surprisingly, I didn't find the Reversal Day setup to be profitable on any pairs. The Reversal Lemonade works on a few.

Channel Breakout, using the typical 55/20 that Courtney also suggests in the book, doesn't work on a single currency pair. I see the potential of this trade though, with a better stop ... I'll be reprogramming it to exit on fractals using a shorter time frame than the time frame on which I entered on a channel breakout. I did find 90/90 works on some pairs with 30 minute bars.

Regardless of whether one of Courtney's specific trade setups work, the best thing to take away from this book are his ways of thinking:

1. His approach to psychology is great and can be summed up quickly: Consider yourself to be a casino, with the market as the gambler at your card table, and your trade setup as your card game. You lose some, win some, and overall you take home a profit. No need to freak out and yell at the monitor when a trade isn't making money. Play your hand and then play the next hand.

2. Program numerous trade setups that are based on a fundamentally sound idea. For example, inside days and reversal days, as well as reversal lemonade and inside lemonade, are all fundamentally sound, although they are not all profitable on all pairs. Start with something that works fundamentally. Program it, backtest it, throw out the ones that don't work, and forward test the trades that do work. Don't expect any trade to work on every pair. Trade it where it works.

3. Once you see it works even in forward testing, such as with a demo account or a small live account using micro pips, then open a larger live account and let it work for you.

Personally, I wouldn't get caught up in paying anyone to coach you to trade, which seems to be the end goal of this book. There are also a lot of typos that can seriously confuse you if you don't pay a lot of attention to what you're reading. I found them while highlighting and working through sections. Courtney says at the end of the book you can go to his website to ask a question, but I've never received a single answer. Lack of follow through and some trades that don't even work = 4 stars.

Good book for people who already have money

This is an interesting read with some solid methods for trading forex. My biggest complaint is that it only talks about positon (long term) trading based on the daily charts, and has almost nothing about day trading. Position trading is fine if you have a large amout of capitol and can withstand some major drawdowns, but the majority of traders are starting with much less money. The author has been a professional trader for many years, and at least this is a book written by someone who actually does make money consistently and has a long term track record of success. The methods presented are successful in the long run if your account can withstand losing hundreds of pips 45% of the time.
